Wants you To KNOW

Woodstock, the second-largest town in Connecticut at just under 62 square miles, is known for its rich agricultural heritage and history. The town boasts more dairy farms than any other in the state and is home to the Woodstock Fair, held every Labor Day weekend, which is the second-oldest agricultural fair in the country. One of its most notable landmarks is Roseland Cottage, also known as “The Pink House,” a Greek Revival home on the National Register of Historic Places that contains the nation’s oldest surviving indoor bowling alley and has hosted four U.S. presidents—Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, Benjamin Harrison, and William McKinley. Woodstock also features Quasset School, one of the oldest one-room schoolhouses still in use for special classes, and the Woodstock Theft Detection Society, the oldest continuously operating police agency in the nation.
