Wants you To KNOW

Founded in 1667, Killingworth has a long history as a farm town in Connecticut. Originally the town borders included what is now the town of Clinton, however in 1838 the two towns separated with the new northern portion retaining the name Killingworth. To this day Killingworth residents enjoy beach access rights in Clinton. Killingworth is home to Chatfield Hollow state park and other significant stretches of protected open space such as Parmelee Farm and serves as watershed for municipalities from New Haven to Westbrook. Killingworth is also sited on a geologic feature known as the Killingworth Dome, making it one of the highest points on the Eastern United States coastal plain. Finally, Killingworth, as constituted with Clinton, served as the birthplace of Yale University whose first president Rev. Abraham Pierson taught several classes out of his home.
