Wants you To KNOW

Nestled in the heart of Connecticut’s Quiet Corner, the Town of Chaplin offers a rare glimpse into early 19th-century life, uniquely established without prior settlement and preserved with minimal modern development. Its historic district showcases architecture and community planning from the 1820s and 1830s, all set against the scenic backdrop of the Natchaug River and a network of lakes, ponds, and dams. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore Natchaug and James L. Goodwin State Forests, with miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, and nature walks. Chaplin is also home to Diana’s Pool, a riverside retreat with waterfalls and mill ruins, and Edward Garrison Park, which features walking paths, a disc golf course, and Connecticut’s first municipally owned arboretum. As part of The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor, Chaplin remains committed to preserving its natural beauty and rural charm.
